We are seeking a NICET III Lead Installer, to work on an overseas U.S. Embassy project in Doha, QatarA secret level U.S. security clearance is required, which also requires US citizenship. The expected duration of this position is approximately 2 years.

The NICET III Lead Installer shall have a notarized copy of the NICET level III certificate and shall have a minimum of five years hands-on experience in the requirements of fire sprinkler systems. The NICET III Lead Installer must possess an active SECRET clearance, a valid passport, and the ability to obtain appropriate work visas and other required documentation. It is preferred that individuals have experience working on previous OBO projects overseas. Responsibilities include, but not are limited to the following, (unless otherwise noted, all duties are performed regularly and/or frequently, depending on job tasks assigned for the given workday):

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Technical guidance:  The certified individual shall consult with site management and lead the fire sprinkler system installers to establish means and methods to install the fire sprinkler system through completion, commissioning and acceptance.
  • Performance Testing, Commissioning and Acceptance:  The certified Fire Protection System Technician shall ensure system compliance with contract documents, resolve discrepancies and conduct system testing before arrival of the OBO/OPS/FIR/FPE representative. The individual shall remain on site for the performance testing and acceptance of the system, and to resolve with COR any discrepancies found by the OBO/OPS/FIR/FPE.
  • Record of Completion Certification:  The certified individual shall submit the fire certification of compliance to the COR for the review by OBO/OPS/FIR/FPE representative prior to system commissioning.
  • Assist other crafts as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • U.S. Citizenship and a U.S. secret level security clearance
  • NICET level III certification
  • 5+ years’ construction industry experience preferred
  • Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures
  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • General knowledge of the use of hand tools
  • General knowledge of operating construction equipment and vehicles
  • Flexibility in working overseas
  • Understanding and adherence to local laws and customs in host country
  • Following all Government site security requirements to maintain eligibility to work on project site
  • Ability to take direction and work well with others, including meeting attendance requirements necessary to keep job on schedule and adherence to safety protocols

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, among other things, use hands to grasp and reach up with arms overhead, including manual dexterity to operate equipment, cut, pull wiring, and perform specialized skills. The employee must have the ability to regularly and for extended periods of time stoop, squat, stand, walk, twist, balance, climb (ladder and stairs of high-rise building), kneel, crouch, speak, carry, and hear. There is a minimal demand for sitting, other than during periods of extended travel (such as to and from the project location). The employee must have the ability to regularly lift, carry, push or pull and move up to 50 pounds of weight without assistance. The job imposes a substantial demand for physical agility and mobility, including the ability to maneuver safely throughout the work site. This position will require the use of personal protective equipment during various tasks and activities. The employee must be able to hear warning sounds and alarms, communicate effectively with coworkers and follow spoken directions.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Mental Demands:

The position requires a high degree of concentration in a busy environment.   There is a substantial demand for analyzing, perceiving, comprehending, rapid decision making and exercising sound judgment to ensure individual and coworker safety in a potentially dangerous environment.  Ability to follow directions and meet deadlines is critical.  

Environmental Demands:

The position entails working on a busy construction site overseas, generally away from the employee’s family, and in countries whose laws and social norms may be much more restrictive than in the United States, with the potential for occasional periods of social unrest, military action, interruption of normal services such as electricity and water, natural disasters, and the like.

Work involves a 60-hour workweek, 6 days a week/ 10 hours per day. Flexibility with hours/days is required. Individuals must have comfort working in a high-stress environment and be able to perform the above activities in extreme hot, cold, humid, and wet conditions depending on location and season. Frequent exposure to construction equipment and sharp tools, including power tools, and materials.  May involve frequent repetitive motions.  Some exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals, potential electric shock, significant heights and high noise level, including high-pitched noises.  Some potential exposure to dust, fumes, smoke and airborne particles.
